PEDAGOGUES FOR THEIR COLLECTIVE: MANAGING STRESS
First set of trainings in HNK Mostar


More than 70 primary school teachers in Mostar have spent four hours "Managing stress" trainings – through lugh, exercises, opinion exchange and teaching. The goal was introducing one of the biggest enemies of the healthy personality: stress. Extraordinary talks and activities of teachers in school moderated by pedagogues gave additional positive energy and relaxing to the  working environment. From May 16-21 first set of trainings was held in five primary schools in Mostar: "Zalik", "Blagaj", "Ilići", "Antuna Branka Šimića u Mostaru" i "Mustafa Ejubović – Šejh Jujo". School pedagogues were also training teachers, and they got the skills and knowledge in recent three days training of the same name. That training was organized by TPO Foundation and Ministry of education, science, culture and sport of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton as part of three years project "Peer and gender based violence in school". The goal of the training was to give new techniques and better understanding of term stress and its impact on personality, correct understanding of stress situations and circumstances and getting to know methods of stress reduction in everyday life. Empowering pedagogues in this field gave them the opportunity to help school collective in overcoming stress situations and adequate opposing different stressors.
It consisted four modules: Module 1: Raising awareness of presence of stress, Module 2: Methods of self-evaluating stress and applying, Module 3: Mastering strategies for facing stress and Module 4: Adoption of techniques and developing skills for managing stress. Connecting the group and creating of positive environment has been achieved through continuous exercises and active participation of everyone. Methods were working in pairs, working in groups, independent work. Surrounded with motivating, enthusiastic and positive messages, all present had opportunity to accept new notion: assertiveness, but also to recognize their own helping and aggravating traits and resources.



Some participants had this training as their very first experience of extracurricular activities devoted to teachers, so many teachers and school directors sent messages that it is important to have more of these and similar trainings. TPO Foundation in cooperation with the Ministry of education, science, culture and sport will continue to work with these schools next three years.
